Thursday Playlist

From this Thursday onwards I shall be putting up a playlist to brighten your day! They will be a mix of music that I'd been listening to recently. Just to help you get into that almost weekend mood.

This isn't a band that I listen to a lot, mainly because they just aren't my type of music but this is just a really sweet song.
I went to see The Vaccines on New Year's Eve and really enjoyed them! A really catchy tune and I find myself singing it when I'm on my own.
Bought LDR's album a couple of weeks back. I have fallen for her voice although it has a rather eerie quality to it. Skipping through the record and found this track.
When I was away at half term I put my iPod on shuffle and found this and I love it. He or they or she has a unusual voice.
After I saw Noah and the Whale I have become a big fan of Howard's. He was the support act for NATW.

One Day

I went to go and see 'The Woman in Black' starring Daniel Radcliffe, at the cinema with my dad and my brother on Saturday night. It was a happy ending but I had my hands covering my eyes and ears the whole time. I had to keep telling myself 'It's just Harry Potter being chased around a big scary house in the middle of nowhere'I would go into more depth about it but I don't want to spoil it! Luckily I didn't have any nightmares.

I've spent the day off school because I hurt my neck, I don't know how but its really sore.  So I've watched two new episodes of 'New Girl' I had recorded, 'The Ugly Truth' starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler and also 'No Strings Attached' featuring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. My eyes will soon turn into squares! My neck is still a bit sore but I'm hoping it gets better.

How'd You Like My Collage/

I went to my friends house today because i was bored out of my mind. We made collages for Baden Powell Award in Guides. Once we have completed it we can go onto do Senior Section and not hang around with 10 year olds who can be really irritating at times. The collage was about 'being you' and who you are. I had to express my lifestyle and culture through words and pictures. I mainly cut them out from magazines and a thank you card. Guess what?! It snowed today I know it won't lie but it was nice just to have some, we've only had one spell through out the whole winter!
Sorry the picture is the wrong way round. I can't do any better.

They Are Not Just A Jewish Rebel Army..

A couple of weeks back I went to see an indie rock band called The Maccabees. I hadn't really listened to their music before but I had heard them on the soundtrack for Angus,Thongs & Perfect Snogging playing their song "Toothpaste Kisses". I bought the band's first two albums only a week or so beforehand so I had a better idea of what they would be playing. The concert was held in a small bar/theatre/drama type place, I don't really know how to describe it. I had never been to a gig in such a close environment before. I felt like if some massive disaster happened and we never saw anybody else apart from the people there I would be fine with that because they were my type of people. Individuals with individuality. I went with my friends and my mummy(we were too young to go by ourselves). I think it was the best concert I've ever been to.  They finished the night by playing Grew Up At Midnight and you could feel the crowd really coming together. Afterwords the floor was really sticky, it was carpet and I think people had spilled tonnes of beer so your feet felt that they were sticking to the floor and you had to put some real effort into picking your feet off of the ground.  To be honest, it was one of the best nights of life.

Their newest album is called Given To The Wild. You can buy it here!

This is a link to the video i took myself. Likes are appreciated. :)
The Maccabees playing First Love - sorry it's a bit jumpy, I took it myself.

This is my favourite picture i took, it's also my laptop background. :)

How to add a little wave to your life

A while ago I really wanted an easy way to make my hair go wavy and now I found it. Here are the steps.
  1. Have a shower the night before. DO NOT DRY YOUR HAIR.
  2. Plait your hair into 2 or 4 plaits or however many you want but if you have like 10 it will go a bit frizzy. Don't miss a piece of hair because that is just straight when you wake up.
  3. Sleep with your hair like this, yes it may be uncomfortable but you will get used to it the more you plait your hair.
  4. In the morning take your plaits out and your hair should be wavy. Don't brush the waves otherwise your hair will rise and become frizzy.
  5. Tadaah! That was easy. Now you have wavy hair.
In these pictures I am in my pyjamas so no complaining.

We Drink Tonight...

My mum's friend sent her this CD for Christmas which they had made themselves. The tracks are really good although some aren't really the type of music I like to listen to. There is one song on the CD which makes me feel really happy every time I hear it. It's called Elephant Gun by an indie folk band called Beirut. Although the lyrics are sad and about escaping a POW camp, (I think) the melody is just so joyful. I like to listen to it all the time it's so addictive.

I think that it's the type of song that you'd hear in the background of a film during a wedding scene. Maybe this song will be my first dance in my wedding but that's a long way off from now. I can't express how cheerful and lovely this song is. The video is also quite extraordinary, you couldn't think of anything like it. It's even been listed as the 30th  best music videos from 2000-2009 by Paste, whoever they are. Here is the link to the video :)

About The Author

So I haven't fully introduced myself yet. The name's Lily. I enjoy listening to music and I have rediscovered my passion for blogging. My favourite band are The Kooks. Again a bit of indie rock. I love reading books, mostly chick-lit and YA stuff but there is the occasional 'out there' book. I read magazines and recently found Company magazine is very suited to my taste. I love films. My favourite type is the ones where you get to see how the characters react to each other and there isn't actually any point to the plot. People say I act bit like Zooey Deschanel, which obviously I take as compliment. I like my clothes and I really want a leather jacket but they are far too expensive and I'm rather fussy so that wish isn't happening any time soon. Pancakes are the best.

Happy Valentine's

Happy Valentine's Day!
I really fancy a love heart now.
Many people nowadays think that Valentine's Day is just a scam and puts pressure on peoples relationships but I like it so I thought I'd post a picture of some Love Hearts.

Valentine's Day:
This day has produced a fantastic film, in my opinion, featuring many famous actors. The story is about how the lives of couples and singles intertwine on Valentine's Day and the pressure and expectations the day puts on people.

HELLO - My name is..

As some of you may already know I've had a few blogs in the past but none have been very successful. Whilst reading the March of issue of Company magazine I found a feature about Bip Ling  and that her career has progressed ever since she started her own online journal in 2009.  I thought about my older blogs and decided to give the whole 'blogging scene' another go.
Here is what I'll probably be discussing;
  1. Music
  2. Books
  3. Fashion
  4. Maybe even a few recipes..
